Pack communications occur through e-mail updates, typically via e-mail through Scoutbook, and communication via WhatsApp. Please follow these general guidelines to ensure you are kept in the loop with the pack.
Keep your email address and mobile number current in Scoutbook.
Ensure your adult profile is linked to your scout in Scoutbook and you are NOT opted out of e-mails.
Connect with a leader to ensure you are added to the appropriate WhatsApp group(s).
Read Pack and den messages regularly.
Respond to RSVPs and requests for information by the stated deadline.
Contact a leader whenever you have a question rather than waiting until the day of an event.
The pack leverages a WhatsApp Community for up to the minute communications and last-minute reminders. Once registered, please work with the Pack Leaders to be invited into the Pack 1882 WhatsApp Community group and the specific subgroups for the Pack and applicable Den.
We strongly suggest using the Member Tag feature to update your tag with your pack role (e.g. "Tiger Den Leader") or relationship (e.g. "John's Dad") as this improves clarity and group organization.
Scoutbook is the modern tool offered by Scouting America that provides a central hub for Cub Scout pack operations. It allows us to coordinate activities through the use of the Scoutbook Calendar and communicate updates, annoucments, event reminders, and advancement reminders through the messaging platform. See Using Scoutbook for more details on maintaining your Scoutbook account to ensure you recevie and see pack communications and log/track your scout's advancement.
Note: If you wish for a second parent or guardian to receive e-mails via Scoutbook, the second parent/guardian must register for an accout on my.scouting.org and then via Scoutbook Plus you can add a relationship using the Scout's Account ID. If you need assitance with this, please reach out to a pack leader who can assist with this process.
