What do the dues provide?

The annual pack dues go toward making scouting successful for everyone! Your dues provide:

Pack Activities and Events

Supplies for outdoor adventures, meeting activities, pinewood derby cars, and supporting pack operational needs, such as storage unit cost. Note: Some activities, such as campouts may require additional ad hoc costs.

Awards & Recognitions

Belt loops, pins, advancement patches, and trophies that help celebrate your Scout's progress.

Scout Gear

A Class B T-Shirt for all new scout members to Pack 1882.

Support & Training

Leadership development and required Scouting America memberships for adult volunteer leaders.

2026 - 2027 Dues (~$180 per scout)

Cub Scout membership includes two separate annual dues, with both being required for a scout to remain active on the pack roster.

Cost Breakdown:

National Dues: $95.00 (includes council fee and admin fee), Required by Scouting America to support national program, insurance, and support for local councils.
- Scouting America does offer a Military Family Fee Waiver for youth with elgible families. See Military Family Fee Waivers — Sam Houston Area Council for more details.
Pack 1882 Dues: $85.00 - for Class B t-shirt, pack supplies, awards & recognitions, pack operations, and other activities and events.

Additional Costs:

Uniform and Handbook: ~$100 - $125
- A full uniform (Class A) is required. Unforms are designed for use over multiple years, so costs may vary. Additionally, that pack closet may have some gently used options.
- Each year scouts will need a rank specific activity book and gear (neckerchief, slides, etc.)
- The scoutshop.org often runs 10-20% of uniform discounts from August - October.

Optional Activities:

Many activities are free or included with the annual pack dues, however some optional events, such as campouts may require added costs.

How do I pay?

After joining, the pack's treasurer will update your Scoutbook account with the pack dues that will be paid directly to the pack via check or Zelle (cubscoutpack1882.sltx@gmail.com). For the 2026-2027 school year, pack dues are $85.

Paying via Zelle

Using your bank app on your phone, you can select the option to scan a Zelle QR code and scan the pictured QR code. Alternatively you can send the payment to the e-mail address, cubscoutpack1882.sltx@gmail.com.

Paying via Scout Book (credit card)

Charges from the pack will be added to your scout's account in Scout Book. Log into https://advancements.scouting.org/ using the Scouting account you registered with and go to "Youth Profile". From there see the "Payment Logs" tile and click on View Payment Logs. Once there you can select the "Pay" button next to each charge to start the payment process.

NOTE: There is a 3% service fee with this option that goes directly to the service provider and not the pack.
